Scene G--Mass Hysteria They go inside the church. Ricci is looking around for the thief. He sits next to the man he talked to outside. He urges the man to tell him the truth. Finally, the man tells him where he lives. But he won't go with Ricci. Ricci tries to take the man out with him, but he won't go. He and the boy leave. But they can't get out of the mission and the church once they are in. Two of the ushers finally help them. They are outside and Antonio is frustrated. He strikes the boy, who won't come near him then. Ricci leaves the boy behind and looks along t he water. He comes upon a noisy scene. He fears that Bruno has drowned. But the boy hauled out of the water is not Bruno. (Forward to 1:18)
